Laser Dentistry Arrives

The Diode laser is meant for soft tissue, and not for teeth. The laser allows us to do minor surgical procedures and sterilize the area at the same time. There is less chance of infection and some soft tissue procedures around the gum can be done without anesthesia. The laser also promotes healing for infected and irritated tissues. There is a favorable response to laser treatment and the net result is less healing time compared to traditional techniques. In numerous cases, the laser can be used to treat deep gum pockets that house bacteria which causes gum disease. 

Another benefit of this new laser is its ability to reduce the pain and longevity of cold sores, a nagging problem that occurs in the mouth in times of stress and illness. If you feel you are getting a cold sore, call our office immediately as the laser will reduce the duration of the lesion. I am certified as a laser dentist.
